My Ireland

Bespoke

56"Wide x 60" Long

The patchwork material on the face of this quilt/hanging are a combination of Donegal Tweed, Hessian, Linen and Velvet.

The inspiration for this piece of work is taken from a variety of places.  The centre squares represent the fields of Ireland and their importance to the survival of the Donegal and Innishowen peoples.  The yellow tweed and fringing represents the beautiful sands and white horses that surround Innishowen and Donegal.  Hessian represents the smooth driftwood and soft pebbles which laze on the sands.  The blue lines represent the sea which surrounds the whole of Ireland.  Finally, the smooth green velvet reflects the warmth and strength of its people. - All of this conjures up "Mac Nutts".
